Soft starters and frequency converters are two completely different products. The inverter is used where speed regulation is required, and its output not only changes the voltage but also changes the frequency at the same time; A soft starter is actually a voltage regulator that is used when the motor is started, and the output only changes the voltage and does not change the frequency. The inverter has all the features of a soft starter, but it is much more expensive and structurally complex than a soft starter.
1. The main difference between the two

2.Characteristics of inverter

3. Differences in technical indicators:

(2) This kind of AC voltage regulation circuit is used in automatic heating temperature control circuits, stage dimming circuits and other load circuits that have nothing to do with AC waveforms but are only related to the average voltage;
(3)However, some people and even the so-called experts use this thyristor AC voltage regulating circuit for the start of asynchronous AC motors, and the name is Japanese soft start;
(4) Because the asynchronous AC motor works under the three-symmetrical sinusoidal AC waveform, there is a constant rotating magnetic field
(5) If the alternating current of the sinusoidal alternating current waveform is cut by adjusting the conduction angle of the thyristor and used for the asynchronous AC motor, a constant rotating magnetic field cannot be generated;
(6) This AC waveform is used in the asynchronous motor to completely destroy the starting performance of the asynchronous motor, the starting torque is low, the starting current is large, and there is no soft start function as everyone imagines;
(7) All soft-start motors are started when they are close to full voltage, with long starting time and large starting current, which has a greater impact on the power grid;
(8) The self-coupling step-down start, star-delta start, water resistance step-down start, etc. of the asynchronous motor do not change the sine waveform, which are all good and effective starting equipment, which are better than soft start.
