I. Inspection and Positioning
1. Verify Drawings: Box dimensions, number of circuits, and main switch current must match the design.
2. Select a Suitable Location: Avoid damp, vibrating, and flammable areas. The bottom edge should be at least 1.5m from the ground (1.8m is common for residential lighting boxes).
3. Reserved Space: Leave at least 0.8m of operating distance in front. The box door opening angle should be at least 90°.
4. Environmental Conditions: Ambient temperature should be between -5℃ and 40℃, and humidity ≤90%. If dampness cannot be avoided, a moisture-proof heater must be installed.
II. Core Operations
1. Box Fixing
Concealed Mounting: The box should be flush with the wall, and the edges should be filled with mortar. Foam or flammable materials are strictly prohibited for filling.
Surface Mounting: Fix to the load-bearing wall with expansion bolts. Bolts ≥M8. The box's verticality deviation should be ≤1.5mm/m.
2. Wiring Specifications
Color Separation: Live wire (L) red/yellow/green, neutral wire (N) light blue, ground wire (PE) yellow-green.
Pre-installed Length: 10-15cm of wire should be left before entering the enclosure.
Secure Wiring: Multi-strand wires must be tinned or crimped with terminals; single-strand wires must be bent in the same direction as the screw tightening.
3. Component Arrangement
Main Switch: Must be able to simultaneously disconnect the live and neutral wires.
Branch Circuits: Socket circuits must be equipped with residual current devices (RCDs) with an operating current ≤30mA and a tripping time ≤0.1s.
Terminal Blocks: Must have independent neutral and ground terminals; connecting the ground wire to the enclosure screws is strictly prohibited.
III. Inspection and Testing
1. Insulation Test: Each circuit should have an insulation resistance of ≥0.5MΩ to ground using a 500V megohmmeter.
2. Residual Current Device (RCD) Test: Pressing the test button should cause an instantaneous trip.
3. Power-on Check: Voltage should be normal, no abnormal heating, and no arcing sounds. Use a voltage tester to confirm that the sockets are "left neutral, right live, top ground".
4. Clear Labeling: A circuit diagram should be affixed inside the box, with each switch labeled with its corresponding equipment.
IV. Common Prohibited Practices
1. Directly attaching wooden boards to the back of the box/No fireproof partition: Short circuits can cause fires.
2. Multiple circuits sharing a single neutral wire: Removing the neutral wire can burn out equipment.
3. Connecting the residual current device (RCD) before the main switch: Loss of residual current protection.
4. Untinned wire joints, directly screwed into the box: Poor contact can burn out terminals.
5. Mixing different voltage levels of wiring/220V and signal lines in the same box: Interference, breakdown, fire.
Note: Installing a distribution box is a special operation; operators must hold an electrician's operating certificate. Non-professionals are strictly prohibited from replacing or repairing the main switch!
